Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs.

Unfortunately our experience ended extremely badly. The packing of our late Mother’s treasured belongings was so dreadful, that many of the antiques, art and valuables were destroyed or irreparably damaged. It was an altogether heartbreaking experience. No care or respect was shown for any of the things entrusted to their care. So sad.

London to Ireland.

I am a first time mover from London to Ireland through work so as you would expect very nervous.

I was recommended Careline by a friend and once I spoke with the people in there London Office I felt much more at ease and I had a Free no obligation survey and found after the Survey much more relaxed.

The job went smoothly both ends and can no say anything bad about them.
I read the below and see now that all is from Ireland out and not the UK out. So all in all a smooth move from start to finish.

Avoid contracting Careline

I have just moved my family from Ireland to Spain and we contracted Careline to deliver 2 cubic meters of goods. Every step has been littered with problems, the biggest of which is that we were left with our personal belongings which we treasure greatly destroyed beyond repair (10’s of picture frames smashed, PC monitors smashed, my child’s toys in bits, my wife’s jewellery box broken etc etc)

We received 2 different dates on when the goods were supposed to arrive, both of which my wife took days off to be at home and the goods never arrived. We finally got them 5 weeks after delivery (we were advised that they would be with us 2-3 weeks after collection, so we were 2 weeks without key things we needed to live)

It was suggested by Careline that the damage was because the boxes weren’t properly packed by us which was nothing short of outrageous.

I would advise avoiding contracting Careline at all costs. The minute your money is in their account, everything will go downhill, I assure you

Very disappointing experience

We had an incredibly disappointing experience with Careline in relation to the transport of our personal belongings from Spain to Ireland. Both the transportation service itself, and the customer care received post-delivery, was very poor.

I arranged for my belongings to be transported from Spain to Ireland. This included two BBQ’s, an office desk and chair and a dressing table and chair, as well as numerous boxes of clothing and kitchenware.

I chose Careline for the transportation service as I was keen to support an Irish business on my return to Ireland.

The items were collected from Spain on 6th November and I was contacted on 15th November to arrange delivery to my home in Ireland on 19th November. The delivery team were very helpful but they had identified that of the two pallets being delivered, there had been an issue with one pallet which resulted in damage to our belongings. The delivery team took pictures of the damage identified and confirmed this would form part of a report to be provided to us.

The issues identified were as follows;

1. The legs on our dressing table were broken and the table had been scratched

2. One of our boxes of clothing had significant water damage and was open on delivery

3. The office chair was saturated with water

4. Both BBQ’s had been damaged beyond repair (our Kamado Joe ceramic BBQ was smashed to pieces and attempts had been made to sellotape the pieces back together and the Weber BBQ was entirely misshapen)

The delivery team confirmed that we should have received a report the day before the delivery to notify us of the damage caused and with pictures and an explanation for same, but this was not received.

I immediately reached out to Careline and the level of service received from this point onwards was terrible.

I was not provided with any report outlining the issues with my belongings, any pictures of the damage caused, or any information about what occurred during the transport process which led to the extensive damage. I requested this information on numerous occasions and received very vague and non-committal responses from Careline. Careline were solely focused on submitting an insurance claim against the damage. I reiterated on numerous occasions that this could not be completed until I had a full report of the damage caused and pictures to support the claim. Notwithstanding this, Careline submitted a partially completed insurance claim without my consent.

After numerous attempts to obtain additional information on the circumstances surrounding my items and a request for a partial refund of the significant amount paid (c. €2,800) given the poor quality of services received, I requested a call from the Managing Director. I subsequently received a call from Kevin Carey who acknowledged that the service provided had been below Careline’s usual standards (as had been accepted by Careline in numerous emails previously). Kevin further confirmed that we should be entitled to fully reclaim the cost of the damaged items under an insurance claim and that he would discuss internally regarding a refund of the fees we paid.

Ultimately, following extensive back and forth with both the insurance claims agents and Careline, the insurance claim is covering 2/3rds of the cost to replace the damaged items and Careline have only offered a ‘goodwill gesture’ of €200 against the fees paid. This means that we have not been made whole as a result of the poor service provided by Careline and, despite accepting that the services provided were below par, they have offered less than a 10% refund of the fees paid.

We allowed Careline plenty of opportunities to provide a reasonable resolution to this issue but I have now come to the end of the road and am entirely dissatisfied. We therefore thought it was important to forego the €200 ‘goodwill gesture’ and write this review so hopefully other customers can take this into account when considering engaging Careline for transportation services.

Horrible service- not reliable.

Horrible service- we were promised by the sales person- son of the owner of the company that we have our stuff delivered in 3 weeks. 5 weeks later no sign of it and what is even worse they are not sure where they are. We tried to contact the sales guy- no answer and no bother to get back to us. Lady from helpline promises she find out what is happening and will call back! Of course they charge us - but not sure when we receive our stuff. Disgusting!

Excellent service all round.

I was a bit nervous using Careline for my move from the UK to Dublin after reading the reviews via this website. However how wrong could I of been. from the moment I first enquired to the delivery of my items in Ireland I couldn't of faulted the staff or the service the Careline team provided. All items were blanket wrapped professionally and the guys handled my items with such care. I would definitely not trust everything you read in terms of reviews. Would 100% recommend Careline to my family and friends and would not hesitate to use their services again. 5 stars all round!

Do not use Careline Int Moving & Storage.

Please do not use Careline International, they were the Irish partner to the Canadian movers we contracted to move our belongings back to Ireland. I loaded the container myself, say the security tag go on and then expected the container to arrive to our new house in Dublin.

What actually happened was that the container went to Carelines warehouse where the contents were loaded into smaller boxes. It was then that our belongings went missing. Over €2,000.00 of tools gone. Terrible terrible terrible.

Disaster!

We had a container thinking that our things would be safer. How wrong can you be. A large statue arrived without it's head, another ceramic piece had been put in a box without packing and arrived in pieces. Oil paintings arrived with holes in them. An antique table is in pieces. Our sofa arrived filthy & without legs and we have unpacked every carton and they are not there. Expensive Panama hats packed with heavy goods on top of them - the hats arrived split. Chest of drawers arrived chipped. A Tiffany style lampshade packed on it's side and squashed flat. This list could go on and on. They also left two things behind, even though I pointed them out twice in the last hour the packers were there. When I contacted Careline they reminded me that the insurance is not new for old and they will cut the value of goods dependent on age, not condition of item, and that I'll have to cover the first 150euros of each item. So, I think they don't care about the condition goods arrive in. I will get cents on the Euro compensation.

Once they have your money, they don't care.

Had excellent service moving from Ireland to UK. Once I tried to get them to collect packing materials was an absolute fiasco. I rang the Irish office, was directed to the UK office who said I had to contact the Irish one who confirmed that Dominic in the Uk office would contact me. He didnt. I contacted the Irish office and he telephoned saying it was hard for him to find the time to do this. He was to telephone during the week which he did reiterating the above. I have one entire room unusable, no apology and no expectation of them collecting their materials.

Disappointing service.

We did the move of our items in 2 batches. The first one arrived as promised on time but with a broken rocking chair. Then the second with stains on our sofa also missing toys, water pipe and a bucket. When enquired with them there was absolutely no response. The only reason we trusted to go with them was the way they came home to give us a quote assuring they are family run etc which obviously made us believe them.Would not recommend.

Absolute scammers who rip you off, break your items and don’t pay out.

Do not use. They are dishonest scam artists who convince you to pay more through lying, then don’t go back when they have been caught. They also left items unattended for hours and drive off without them, having to be called back to collect after being left out in the public for hours. In addition they broke expensive items and then didn’t honour paying out despite paying for insurance with them. They are liers and cheaters and shouldn’t be allowed to continue their business.

Keep Away!!

We used Careline as when we moved from Sydney to Cork they were the partner company in Ireland so we used them again to move back to Australia a year later.
Boy did we make a mistake. They packed with no care taken and no wrap paper whatsoever. As a result three sentimental crockery items were smashed to pieces as they were thrown in a box with a heavy metal bike trainer.
When we complained they did not care and simply said to file an insurance claim even though things broke because of their negligence.
DO NOT USE THEM!!

Awful.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
They do not 'care' about your items but they will use a few 'lines' to get your business.
I had my goods stored and transported from Ireland to the UK. Upon arrival items were broken and my sofas are ruined.
I was told my sofas would be wrapped in storage but this was not the case.
The insurance sold doesn't cover damage unless they wrapped them. A service I was not offered.
'Complaints' department do not take the matter seriously and the insurance isn't worth the paper it's written on.
I now have sofas which I worked hard for which are ruined.
Disappointing and unsatisfactory service and company.
Avoid at all costs!

Careline: Liars with terrible customer service.

I was charged for services and packing materials that I never received. Packers did a horrible job, simply taping many of my old cardboard boxes which were already falling apart. Shipment was delayed considerably. Salesman took no responsibility and pushed me off on Noel Power, Careline's General Manager. Mr. Power tried to ignore me, only responding when I threatened legal action. Finally he told me that he would have Mark Carey, Careline's Managing director contact me. Mr. Carey completely ignored me. This company is totally lacking in integrity, ignoring customers who have paid and deleting all negative comments from their social media page and filling it with positive comments from their own employees and their families. Avoid this company at all costs.

Ireland to Australia.

I'm writing this review from Australia and it's over 3 months since our things from Furniture to motorbikes have yet to fully arrive. With careline you pay top dollar but the service is diabolical. Ive had to be constantly on the phone with Brisbane to try and get things moving. Once careline says bye bye in Ireland to your shipment there is no more help from them, they're supposed to help completely with shipping but they've absolutely no clue as to what the requirements for Australia were. We have to pay a lot of extra costs in Australia due to careline not having an understanding of what needed to be done. I'd really never use them as the cost does not reflect the service. Really really disappointed. It'll probably be 3 and a half months for delivery. That's just totally unacceptable in my mind.

Move from Ireland to South Africa.

We were extremely impressed with Careline from the first contact. They were efficient, informative and incredibly helpful and patient. Our goods were collected on the day and time agreed. All our household goods were packed carefully and well looked after. We were kept informed throughout the whole removal process, including where and when the container ship was docking. They arranged for collection at Cape Town and delivery to our home address.
Thank you Stuart, Ingrida and all the team at Careline. You made a stressful time so easy for us. If we ever move back we know who to contact!

I have used Careline to move my belongings from Ireland to Italy (during a pandemic!). I was surprised and a bit wary after seeing so many negative reviews on this website and as a consequence I wasn't the easiest customer to deal with, nonetheless they have been very accommodating and patient with all my requests. Careline stressful move

Careline lost/damaged £300 worth of our belongings which were transported from Ireland and stored in the UK prior to delivery. Items of furniture such as our beds, table and chest of drawers arrived at our UK home dirty, and one even covered in a sticky film of salt (suggesting on deck ship storage- no explanation provided by them). How can a steel heater be smashed open with careful handling? Parts for assembling a valuable stone sideboard were lost by Careline and it took 3 months for one employee to arrange delivery of these parts and assembly. I would not use Careline again as chasing them for the insurance claim which in the end paid us nothing was stressful, as did the constant writing of email and phone calls asking them to reinstate the sideboard which was a key piece of furniture. It was insensitive of the company to have a member of staff work while his mother was dying in a foreign country- as a result of his remaining in the truck to make arrangements, one man only moved our belongings, turning a 2-hour collection into a 4-hour anxious wait.

Excellent service from Careline

We moved from Cyprus to Ireland in July 2021. The Cyprus shipping company use Careline as their agents to handle the transfer from Dublin docks to our house in Wexford.

The 40 foot container was full of all our belongings and a car. It arrived in Dublin docks on 10 August but it took Customs more than two weeks to examine the paperwork and eventually clear the container. This was due to a combination of factors, e.g. a major backlog of containers waiting to be cleared because of Brexit, a knock-on from the ship stuck in the Suez canal and staff shortage in the Customs department.

Luckily for us we had already liasing with Julie Gleeson at Careline for six weeks prior to this because there was a tremendous amount of paperwork we had to produce to verify our Transfer of Residence from Cyprus to Ireland and ensure that we were not liable to pay import duties etc.

Once the container was customs cleared it looked that we might need to wait another ten days for delivery. However Julie managed to get immediate release of the car the same day and transport of our belongings the day after. There was no damage to anything.

In short, the communication between Julie at Careline and myself – and the help/assistance that she gave - was excellent over a two month period so I would fully recommend Careline.

We lost valuable items, a lot of money, and energy on Careline Int.

We lost many things, a lot of money and a lot of time because of Careline International.

We moved cross-country within Europe, and upon pick up of our shipment, everything seemed smooth and easy. They were going to repack some items and help us pack paintings, bikes and other larger items.

The weeks went by...with no shipment in sight. Our main point of contact is not interested in helping and insists on telling us how much we are making them work on their vacation - we are clients paying for a service and are asking for a status update when the shipment of our home is not arriving around the date they committed to. Also, pass us on to a colleague, then?

Eventually we got help, and got a date promised for delivery for our shipment...three-four weeks later than agreed. On the day of the shipment, they lost track of our entire home - they were not able to locate our shipment?! Late the same evening they figure it out; they mixed our shipment up with one that was supposed to go to the other side of the country. Now we are worried, to say the least.

The day after, they arrive with our shipment and stress us through the process of signing that the delivery has happened - we never signed for the items, as the delivery personnel could not stay for long enough for us to do that. We look through all of the boxes, and cross-check the items in them to do our due diligence (because of them re-packing and packing some of our things more boxes arrived than sent), and several boxes were missing with both expensive and sentimental value.

We paid for insurance, and our point of contact confirmed we were following the rules of procedure, but, more than two months into this process, they revert back with false claims and are not able to help. In other words, we were fighting a losing battle from the day we paid them to ship our things. I would strongly advise you to not make the same mistake as we did.

Appalling

Our experience with this company has been very upsetting. We used Careline for a move from Ireland to the UK. It is doubtful that they could have caused any more damage to our property if they had tried. Scratched furniture, dented freezer, smashed plastic boxes, torn and crumpled cardboard boxes. We noted as things were unloaded several boxes which were marked 'this way up' had been packed into the lorry on their side (and there was a reason why they had been marked 'this way up'!). Worst of all though has been the fact that having told them that there were problems the 'operations department' (Stuart) have neither answered our calls nor phoned us back. Should be called 'Don'tcareline'. A horrible experience.

Careline very poor service

I would not recommend this company. Careline lost a number of boxes when moving from Ireland to Scotland. At any moment they apologised, even the things I lost had a lot of emotional value for me. They also provided a very slow service. For me the worst part was the lack of compassion and customer care.
